Setting up a DoodleMate classroom

Make a classroom

Sign in, open the account menu at the top right and choose My Classrooms.

1. Fill in a class name and grade level.
2. Add your country and state or region.
3. Optionally input your school name and district.
4. Select your permission boxes, or set them later under Class permissions (step 2).
5. Choose Create classroom.

Class permissions

By default, student accounts are not allowed to upload photos or voice recordings to our server. However, you can turn this functionality on if you would like.

1. Open your classroom and go to the Settings tab.
2. Tick "My school allows students to upload photos of their drawings", or "My school allows students to record their voices".
3. Read the box that opens and confirm. The change takes effect straight away; there is no Save button.
   • If your district needs a signed data privacy agreement, email schools@doodlemate.com.
   • OR
   • To inform parents about DoodleMate's data practices, print the parent letter from the Roster tab (Print parent letter) and share it with them. It explains what the app stores for their child and how it is protected.
4. If you want to revoke a permission later, go to the Settings tab and toggle it off.

Add your students

1. Open your classroom. It opens on the Roster tab.
2. Choose Add students.
3. Type or paste their names, one per line. We recommend using a nickname or a first name only.

Classes are currently capped at 30 students per classroom. You can add or delete students at any time from the Roster tab.

Print the login cards

1. On the Roster tab, choose Print all login cards.
2. Print the PDF and cut the cards apart.
3. Hand each student their card.

How students sign in

1. Students log in by scanning their QR code or entering a code at doodlemate.com/student.
2. They land in the Creator, signed in for the school day.

See and download their work

1. Open your classroom and go to the Gallery tab.
2. Choose a student to open what they have made.
3. Play a creation, download it as a video, or delete it.

Everything a student saves lands here. You can watch, download and delete; you do not edit their work.

Make a class reel

One video of the whole class's work, made from creations your students have saved.

1. Go to the Gallery tab and choose Make a class reel.
2. Pick the creations you want. Search by student name to find them quickly.
3. Arrange the order. A→Z by student and Newest first order the whole reel in one tap.
4. Give it a title, choose Square, Tall or Wide, then choose Make the reel.

The reel is made on your own computer and downloads as an mp4, so you can play it at an assembly or send it to families. The title you type opens the reel as a title card.

What students can and can't do

• Their work is private to your classroom.
• They cannot publish or share anything publicly.
• They have no email address on file.
• You can remove a student, or delete anything in the class, whenever you want.
